day 2 - preproduction
One more day has passed,
Today we got our first full team discord reunion going. We gave our pitch for the artists, using a state of the art photoshop mockup of the mechanics:
In order to kill an enemy you first need to disarm it with a kick and only then get a shot in, as you can see on the left side the main attacking method will be to slide into an enemy, sending it forward, and following up with a quick shot. You can also disarm with a divekick and then chase the enemy to get the final shot.
When deciding on an airstyle we drifted towards using toy like models for characters and we have our fisrt concept art:
I am absulotely in love with this design, its super cute and really makes me imagine a brave explorer going into new planets. I think this will really fit the gameplay mechanics of knocking enemies back and being knocked about yourself, hopefully capturing some slapstick charm.
On my side I spent my day finishing up a skillshare course I started yesterday on Unreal Engine basics. I think tomorow I'll be ready to start a fresh project and actually get something moving.
Catralitos has also set up our collaborations and version controls stuff soo everything is ready to go!
